In addition to the usual attendance requirements, all International students on Tier 4 or Student visas are required to complete Visa Checkpoints as part of their visa requirements for the Home Office.

There are two visa checkpoint events every academic year, which are usually held in Semester 1 (October/November) and Semester 2 (Feb/March).

Semester 1 Visa Checkpoint

This is an online-only checkpoint, which is completed using a computer on campus or your mobile when you’re using “Uni-WiFi”.

You will be contacted at your student email (Unimail) when the Visa checkpoint is open. You can then follow the steps in the How to complete your visa checkpoint guide.

Semester 2 Visa Checkpoint

This is an in-person checkpoint, which means all Tier 4 or Students visa holders must come and meet a member of staff in the Immigration team (usually at the International Office, Student Central, Level 4).

You will be contacted at your student email (Unimail) before the event with information on how to complete the Visa Checkpoint. Details about the events are also sent to your school attendance monitoring contacts.

Visa Checkpoints are mandatory to attend for all Tier 4 or Students visa holders. For more information, contact the Immigration Team.
