Being a student is more than academic study. As a well-equipped international Business School, we offer a diverse range activities and support so you can make the to most of your time at university.

We have a well-qualified Student Guidance and Support Team, who offer wellbeing advice and can help you to navigate through your studies. They provide specialist support for students with disabilities. We have a team of First Aiders and Mental Health First-Aiders.
Our Student Experience Team add something special to studying. They work with our academics provide a full programme of additional activities opportunities to allow you to make the most of university life, including supporting student societies, organising events, field trips and guest speakers. They co-ordinate activities such as induction programmes, peer mentoring and opportunities for listening and responding to student feedback.
Our ‘Bud in Hud’ programme encourages students to meet each other in an informal setting. Our students relish being able to get to know other students from across the student spectrum – home and international, undergraduate and postgraduate, taught and research.
Our Learning Innovation and Development Centre (LIDC) enhances students’ academic experience, including delivering taught timetabled provision for international postgraduate taught and top-up students.

International Scholarships

The University of Huddersfield offers a merit based scholarship for all international undergraduate and postgraduate taught students. We will automatically consider any full-fee paying international applicant that has to pay international fees that makes an application to the University. There is no need to fill out an additional application form and we will advise you if you have been successful when you receive an offer of a place from us so that you can begin to plan your finances.

Specialised Scholarships

Chevening Scholarship - This prestigious and highly competitive award is a full scholarship covering your tuition fees and living expenses. Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The programme makes awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study postgraduate courses at universities in the UK. Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship - Our Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship Scheme provides a full fee waiver on either full-time or part-time research degrees, meaning the recipient will not be charged tuition fees for their research degree. This waiver applies to eligible research degrees starting from September 2020 and is open to home, EU and international candidates who have graduated from the University of Huddersfield. To apply, complete our online research degree application form. Please make clear on your application that you wish to be considered for our Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship Scheme.

Early Payment Scholarships - This is a £500 scholarship for applicants who pay their 50% deposit payment by the dates highlighted below. The scholarship will automatically be awarded by the University admissions team on receipt of payment and only applies to the first year of study. It is open to students from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Macau. The scholarship is not available for Masters with Placement or Professional Practice Programmes.

Visa and Immigration

If you have checked if you need a Visa and the answer is yes you may need to apply for a Student visa. A Student visa allows a student to study at a specific UK educational institution on a specific course. The visa should cover the full length of a student’s course plus some extra time at the end.

If your course is eligible for a visa, the University will issue you with a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) with which you can use to apply for your visa.

How to apply admission and get a CAS?

When to apply

If you are starting a new course, you can make your visa application within 3 months of the course start date stated on your CAS. If you are applying to extend your current visa, you must make an application before your current visa expires.

Financial requirements

The financial documents are one of the most important parts of the visa application. In order to get your Student visa, you must show that you have enough money to pay for the course tuition fees and living costs (also referred to as ‘Maintenance’) while in the UK. Most international students are either self-funded or hold an official sponsorship.

Self-funded students: You are classed as a self-funded student if you or your parents or a legal guardian is responsible for your course fees and living costs in the UK. You will be required to meet the financial requirements by submitting evidence of personal bank accounts held either in your name or your parents’/guardian’s names, or in a joint account which bears your name.

Officially sponsored students: You are classed as officially sponsored if your government, a university, an international scholarship agency or an international company is responsible for your course fees and living costs in the UK. Your sponsor must issue you with an official sponsor letter that meets the Home Office’s requirements.
