Why Mathematics?

A degree in Mathematics can open the door to a range of exciting careers.
Organisations need creative mathematicians who can solve problems and translate complex data. Mathematicians' ability to reason logically, to develop quantitative models and to extract information from data means their skillset is valued everywhere. Our Mathematics BSc(Hons) course achieved an overall satisfaction score of 90% in the National Student Survey 2022.

If you wish to pursue a career in the contemporary data-driven business environment, studying for a Mathematics degree at Huddersfield will equip you with the key skills.

Our Mathematics courses concentrate on the use of mathematical techniques to solve industrial problems. You’ll learn to create, understand, query and analyse data to make informed decisions and communicate them effectively to others.

"I undertook a year-long placement at IQVIA working as a SAS Programmer. All my colleagues and team members were incredibly supportive. In IQVIA they are not afraid to give new starters responsibilities and I was assigned a range of assignments including programming derived datasets from scratch."

"I would highly recommend you complete a placement year as you will gain both technical and soft skills such as teamwork, organisation and communication which are pivotal to any role."
