Business and Management research centres

During your research degree, you will work amongst academic experts from the following research centres:

  • The Centre for Sustainability, Responsibility, Governance and Ethics (SURGE): Undertakes research into the factors that underpin resilience, equity, and sustainability across business, society, and policy. The centre focuses on multidisciplinary research in areas including community resilience, sustainable consumption and production, corporate governance and responsibility, digital futures and sustainable development, health and well-being, and systemic inequalities.
  • The Northern Productivity Hub (NPH): A multidisciplinary research centre that covers a broad range of subject areas from economics, finance, supply chain management, digital transformation and contemporary employment and organisations. Productivity is the central theme that unites these subjects, recognising that a healthy and happy workforce has synergistic benefits for workplaces, productivity, and the economy.
  • The Future Mobility Centre: Focuses on the promotion of sustainable and inclusive transport initiatives that promote more liveable futures. The centre is home to interdisciplinary research that combines the business, behavioural science, planning, and engineering disciplines to understand socio-technical transitions to sustainable futures.

Current Projects

Participatory Forestry Management in Ethiopia

Dr Matt Snell from Huddersfield Business School began a three-and-a-half-year project in 2024 which will help communities in two remote areas of southwest Ethiopia attract premium prices for their wild coffee and forest honey.
