Step 1 - Prepare to apply
Use the guidance below on how to be ready to make your application with us.
- The first step to making your application is deciding what you want to study. Be sure to browse our range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses as well as available pathway courses.
- Be sure to check the deadline for your course application in the table below.

Before you apply, make sure to view the entry requirements for your specific course of interest, ensuring that you meet these criteria with your equivalent qualifications.
- We accept a range of international qualifications for most courses at the University of Huddersfield. You can check whether your qualifications are accepted by checking our country-specific requirements.
- If you are from a non-majority English speaking country, we will also require a recognised qualification in English language before you can begin your degree course. If you do not meet the English Language requirements for your course, you may be eligible to join one of our Pre-sessional English programmes on campus.
In order for us to check your suitability to the course, you will need to complete an application form. You will also be required to provide evidence of your academic achievements, any English language qualifications, and a personal statement detailing why you wish to study the course, plus any other additional documentation required for your course. There may be other requirements depending on your course such as references, a portfolio or audition.
Use this checklist to make sure you have everything you need to begin your application.
Qualifications
- Academic transcripts/marksheets and certificates/diplomas*
- English language test scores* (IELTS, PTE, etc)*
Personal statement
You are required to submit a clear and detailed personal statement explaining why you wish to study this course and how it relates to your future career plans. Your statement should:
- demonstrate your genuine interest in the subject you're applying for
- explain why you have chosen this programme and to study with the University of Huddersfield
- show how any current work experience is relevant to the course being applied for
- explore how this qualification will help you achieve your academic and professional goals in your home country or internationally.
Other requirements
- A copy of your current valid passport.
- A CV detailing your employment and work experience if applicable.
- References**
- Portfolio for many courses in: Art, Design and Architecture and Music.
- Sponsorship confirmation (if your fees are going to be paid by your government or other organisation).
- If you are an international student already living in the United Kingdom, you must provide a copy of your current visa and full details of what you are studying.
- If you have studied in the UK previously or had any visa refusals for any country, you must also provide full information and documentation for this at this stage.
*If you have not yet completed your current qualifications. If you do not yet have your transcripts/marksheets, please ensure you fully detail what you are studying in your application.
**References are only required for certain courses. Please ensure that you provide them if they are stated in the entry requirements for the course.

Apply through an Official Representative
You can apply through an official, quality-certified University representative in your country.
Apply through UCAS
It is also possible to apply through the Universities and Colleges Admission Service for the UK, (UCAS).
Apply for a pathway programme
If you do not meet the University's direct entry requirements, you may be able to study on a preparatory course offered by Study Group, including a Foundation Year, International Year One or Pre Masters.
