Bringing your family
Only certain student visa holders are eligible to have family (i.e. spouse or partner and/or children) with them in the UK as “Dependants”. You should check the eligibility criteria carefully on the UKCISA website to confirm whether you qualify to bring dependants under the Student visa route.
How to apply? Dependant visa from overseas
If the visa rules allow you to bring dependants and they are applying from outside the UK (Entry Clearance), they must apply online.
In most countries, as part of the online application an appointment is booked to attend the visa application centre to enrol their biometrics (fingerprints and facial image) and submit supporting documents.
If your dependants’ application is successful, they will also receive a decision email that contains important information about eVisas.
Dependants will also need to provide supporting documents as part of the visa application. Any documents that are not in English must be accompanied by official certified translations.
