Degree Apprenticeship University of the Year 2027

The University of Huddersfield has been named University of the Year for Degree Apprenticeships 2027 in the new Daily Mail University Guide, with judges praising our impact to the sector, our great facilities for students and the range of courses on offer.

What did the Daily Mail University Guide say about our award win?

Alastair McCall, Editor of the Daily Mail University Guide, commented: "Huddersfield offers exceptional degree apprenticeship opportunities to students. No other university delivers such exceptional outcomes for its apprentices on the same scale as Huddersfield – last year 88% achieved their apprenticeships across provision that spans 11 programmes and around 800 students."

He continued: “Huddersfield’s exemplary record on degree apprenticeships shows that ambition extends to all its students at whatever level they are studying, and we are delighted to recognise that contribution.”

Outstanding impact to the apprenticeship sector

One of the key areas highlighted by the organisers of the guide was our impact to the apprenticeship sector through our courses, which can be seen through the following:

  • The University of Huddersfield has the highest Apprenticeship Qualification Achievement Rate (QAR) among Higher Education Institutions in England, with 88% of students completing their courses. *Excludes providers with fewer than 100 apprentices.

  • We are rated Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rating which highlights the excellent learning experience for apprentices and their employers at the University of Huddersfield.

  • Our National Health Innovation Campus (NHIC) offers facilities which benefit students across a range of programmes, and members of the community can access support through the building too.

We have over 40 apprenticeship courses available

Another key reason behind our award win is that Huddersfield is the largest provider of apprenticeships in nursing and allied health in Yorkshire and the Humber.

We also offer apprenticeships in the following subjects:

  • Health Professions (including Advanced Practice, Occupational Therapy, Podiatry, Paramedic Science, and Radiography)
  • Nursing and Midwifery
  • Social Care and Social Work
  • Teacher Training
