Nursing interview guidance
What to Expect and How to Prepare
This page outlines what you need to know about your upcoming nursing interview, including what happens during the session, how to prepare, and what happens next.
How will the interview take place?
Interviews are held online.
You'll receive an email with an invitation link and important details, including:
- A short video to watch in advance (for most courses). For Child Nursing, you’ll be shown a photograph during the interview and asked to reflect on it.
- What ID to bring – have it ready to show on camera (Your invitation explains what ID you can use).
We aim to make our interviews informal and supportive, so you can feel comfortable and be yourself.
Dress Code
Wear something that makes you feel confident and professional – comfort matters too!
During the interview
You’ll be welcomed by your interviewer, and we’ll go through the following steps:
- Confirm you’ve watched the video and check any accessibility adjustments you need
- Ask you to show your ID on camera
- A range of questions about the video and discuss your values, motivation, and journey into nursing
- Give you time to ask your own questions
What we're looking for
We are interested in you, we want to understand your passion, values, and interest in nursing. There are no right or wrong answers.
After the Interview
We’ll update your UCAS application with the outcome once a decision is made. If you're offered a place and accept it, we’ll send you everything you need to get started including further information about your DBS check and health clearance.
