Get Set Goal team deliver hundreds of health checks at two local businesses

Students from the award-winning Get Set Goal programme, part of the University of Huddersfield’s Health and Wellbeing Academy, have advised staff at local businesses FMG and Camira on managing their health by delivering over 400 health checks.
Occupational Therapy, Adult Nursing, Child Nursing and Mental Health Nursing students met with staff at motor insurance company FMG, based in Huddersfield, as well as visiting fabric manufacturer Camira’s sites in the town and nearby Meltham.
The students offered one-to-one health checks that included strength and balance, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and heart rate to help raise awareness of risks associated with stroke and heart attack.
Heart health awareness, lifestyle changes & health checks
They also offered coaching and advice designed to identify potential issues that may require a visit to a health professional, or with lifestyle changes could keep staff at FMG and Camira healthy to prevent the need to take time off work.
Alongside the health checks, Get Set Goal students delivered bespoke workshops in support of FMG’s Heart Awareness Day and provided Restart A Heart bystander-only CPR training to raise awareness and equip staff with potentially life-saving skills.
The team was also invited into FMG to support World Sleep Day through the delivery of workshops focused on sleep and wellbeing.
