Originally focusing on STEM subjects, the Charter was expanded in 2015 to include areas such as arts, humanities, social sciences, business and law.  The Huddersfield Business School now joins the prestigious group of business schools who have achieved an Athena SWAN Bronze Award.

“We have a genuine commitment to equality at Huddersfield Business School and I am proud this has been recognised with our Athena Swan Bronze Award.  We have worked hard to identify and address challenges in different disciplines and will continue to take action to tackle barriers in progressing equality.  I’d like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and dedication to achieving our Athena Swan charter.”

The Business School has been working to progress equality and established a team that meets regularly to guide action within the School, including representation from both academic and support staff.

Developments have also been made within its approach to teaching and learning as part of curriculum development.  The School recently launched a new portfolio of postgraduate programmes that are benchmarked against the Sustainable Development Goals and these include gender equality and reducing inequalities.
