Enrolment steps for international students
Not yet travelled to the UK?
If you have not yet completed your journey to the UK, you can first visit our arrivals homepage for tips on planning your journey, applying for your visa and finding student accommodation. Find out when to arrive in the UK, when pre-enrolment opens (online) and when in-person enrolment starts.
How to enrol for your course
Once you arrive in the UK, you can begin your course enrolment and get ready to start your studies. Please take note of our enrolment deadlines as laid out below.
This page sets out the key steps to complete your online pre-enrolment and in-person enrolment and you will find useful information about your next steps, from when to complete enrolment, how to collect your ID card and how to access Brightspace.
Step 1 - Pre-enrolment (online)
You must begin pre-enrolment by the deadline laid out above - you will do this on the MyHud portal using the following steps:
- After receiving your unconditional offer from the University, we will email you from enrolment@hud.ac.uk with a link to complete your online pre-enrolment.
- Use the link in the email to log into your MyHud portal. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete your pre-enrolment. You will be asked to update your UK phone number and term-time address (must be no more than a one-hour journey from the University by public transport). If you do not a UK address yet, please use your current home address.
- Upload a clear photograph of your face; this will be used on your student ID card that you will collect from the University during Stage 2 of enrolment.
- Make sure you answer all questions and fields on every page. On step 3, you will be asked to confirm your tuition fee responsibilities and agree to your future payment deadlines, so please read this carefully.

Stage 2 - In-person appointment and ID card collection
1. We will email you from enrolment@hud.ac.uk 24-hours after you have completed your pre-enrolment, asking you to book an appointment to collect your new student ID card. Please do not book an appointment until you have arranged to travel to the UK.
2. Visit the International Office in Student Central building, Level 4, behind the iPoint reception desk to collect your student ID card. You will need to bring all of the following documents that apply to you:
-
- Original passport (not a copy)
- Your visa decision email from the UKVI
- Your student eVisa share code, and a boarding pass showing when you entered the UK. See our eVisas webpage for support.
- Any other visa that shows your permission to study at the University of Huddersfield.
3. If you did not update your UK local term-time address during Stage 1 of pre-enrolment, you must bring full details of this to your appointment. For further support with enrolment, we will be available daily between 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm (UK time) on MS Teams.
Remember: You cannot enrol unless you have an eligible UK address
In order to complete your enrolment, you must have secured student accommodation which is less than a one-hour journey from the University by public transport.
Our student accommodation partners based in Huddersfield have lots of options for you, from halls to studios and shared houses. If you have any concerns about your UK accommodation address, contact enrolment@hud.ac.uk for confirmation.
Stage 3 - Enrolment confirmation
After you have collected your student ID card, you will receive an email within 24 hours called 'Stage 3' from enrolment@hud.ac.uk confirming your enrolment. Congratulations, you are ready to begin your studies!
