Terms and Conditions: University of Huddersfield Open Day and Applicant Visit Day travel cost contribution scheme
To ensure our Open Days and Applicant Visit Days are as accessible as possible, we’re offering a contribution towards your travel costs.
The scheme applies to visitors who attend an on-campus Open Day and/or Applicant Visit Day event held between September 2023 and June 2024 allowing you to claim up to £75 towards the cost of travel depending on where you live in the UK.
If you’re attending one of our eligible events and would like to claim a contribution towards your travel expenses, simply pre-register for one of our on campus Open Days and/or Applicant Visit Days, making sure you enter your home postcode. Please check this carefully to ensure your postcode is properly entered.
You will only be able to claim your travel contribution if your attendance is recorded on the day, so make sure you go to one of our check-in points during the event.
How is your travel contribution calculated?
- Your contribution is calculated from the home postcode supplied when you pre-register for your on-campus Open Day and/or Applicant Visit Day.
- Only a single travel contribution is paid per visiting party.
- The mileage equates to the quickest return route from your home postcode to the University of Huddersfield (HD1 3DH) calculated by Google Maps and will be paid according to the table below.
- On the day of the event, you must register at one of the check-in points on campus, so that your visit is recorded.

How to claim your travel cost contribution:
- After your visit to campus, we will email you with a secure link to our travel cost contribution form to complete and return. You will be asked to confirm your personal details and enter your bank details for a UK bank account. Please note you can only enter your own bank details. If these details do not match the name given, or your postcode doesn’t match we will not be able to pay the travel contribution.
- You must complete the form within two weeks of your visit. If we don’t receive your form by then, it will not be processed.
- The claim will be processed once we have checked you signed into the event on the day.
- Once submitted, payment can take up to 30 days to appear in your bank account.
Only UK-based enquirers and applicants who are not current students at the University can claim this travel contribution.
The University reserves the right to withdraw or change the terms of this offer at any time and no compensation shall be payable to you as a result of any changes. The University’s decision on whether to award a contribution is final.
