Research in Applied Sciences

Research within the School of Applied Sciences encompasses academic and applied research across three major areas of activity: Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy and Geography.

Our research interests are organised into a series of research centres including:

  • Chemical Synthesis and Design
  • Structural, Molecular and Dynamic Modelling
  • Functional Materials
  • Cellular and Molecular Models of Disease
  • Microbial Therapeutics and Infection Control
  • Pharmacology and Therapeutics
  • Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery
  • Biomarker Research
  • Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice
  • Archaeogenetics
  • Bioprocessing and
  • Disaster Resilience

Multi-disciplinary projects involving multiple research centres within the School and across the University are strongly encouraged with the aim being to develop and conduct research that impacts upon global challenges in drug discovery, material sciences and medicines.
