The Student Finance Office is located in Student Central on Level 4 of the Central Services Building on the main Queensgate Campus.

The Student Finance enquiry desk is open from 10.00am to 4.00pm (Monday to Friday) during term time and between 10.00am and 2.00pm out of term. Outside these hours our services are available through iPoint.

The cash office is open 10.00am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 3.30pm during term time, and 9.00am- 1.00pm out of term.

Staff in the Student Finance Office are available to support and advise all students regarding financial issues.

The Student Finance Office can provide:

• Information and guidance regarding possible sources of funding for all courses in the University.
• Budgeting advice to discuss a variety of options and strategies in order to manage on a budget.
• Facilities for the billing and payment of income to be collected by the University.
• Debt advice via personal and confidential sessions is available from trained staff along with mediation and resolution.

Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE)

From September 2026 the UK government is launching a new student funding system for people starting university education. The Lifelong Learning Entitlement offers flexible tuition fee support to all eligible home undergraduate students starting university from January 2027, as long as they are aged under 60.

The LLE gives all new students a pot of financial tuition fee support that they can access as they need to. For standard undergraduate study this is £38,140 which is the equivalent of four years full-time fees of £9,535 per year. This allows students to apply for support that reflects the number of modules they take each academic year. Any remaining funding can be used towards future undergraduate study - this includes graduates who may want to return to university to retrain but were previously not eligible for financial support (except for a few limited course exceptions).

The funding a student receives at university is then repaid the same way as the current system, based on earnings after graduation and deducted from their salary along with tax and national insurance. There will also be a maintenance loan available to cover living costs, for courses with in-person attendance.
