Applicant Visit Days are the best way to find out everything about studying your chosen course at the University of Huddersfield.  
 
Our Applicant Visit Days are taking place between February and May 2024, and you’ll be sent an email to notify you when our booking system is open.  
 
Applicant Visit Days are only open to our applicants and each subject puts on a tailor-made programme to give you the best opportunity to explore, question and confirm your course choice.   

 

What you can expect on the day

An Applicant Visit Day typically starts around 10am and runs through to 1.30pm depending on what activities you choose to take part in. On the day you can:   

  • Hear about your course from the academic team with future classmates.
  • Take part in activities related to your course.
  • Chat with current students about their studies and get a feel for what student life in Huddersfield is like.
  • Discover all our accommodation options if you've not yet had chance. Available 11.30 - 2pm.
  • Explore our beautiful, canal side campus led by our student ambassadors. Available 11.30 - 2pm.

Our contribution towards travel costs

We know how much you’ll love Huddersfield and we want to make our Applicant Visit Days as accessible as possible, so we’re offering a contribution to your travel costs. 

Claiming your travel contribution

Please be aware that you can only claim your travel contribution after you have attended your Applicant Visit Day. We’ll send you an email after your visit with a link to a secure form to fill out. See more information below.

After attending your Applicant Visit Day, you can claim up to £75 towards your journey between your home address and the University of Huddersfield. When you arrive on the day, please make sure you check in so that we know that you have attended. The below table provides details of the contributions we will make:

To claim your travel contribution, we’ll send you an email after your Applicant Visit Day with a secure form, ask you to confirm your personal details and provide us with your bank/building society details. Once submitted, payment can take up to 30 days to appear in your bank account.

Architecture and the Built Environment

Subject activites

Applicants will take part in one of the following activities depending on their chosen course:

-Architecture: Introductory talk and a creative making workshop.

-Architectural Technology, Quantity Surveying or Construction Project Management: Collaborative project tasks to understand the roles of these three areas, Mola structure workshop (building different structural systems) and a short course presentation.

-Interior Design: Group portfolio review and sample board workshop.

Applicants will take part in an interactive embellishment workshop which will run alongside portfolio reviews.

-From inspiration to script to screen: Work with fellow applicants to devise, rehearse and shoot a short film.

-Your story, my podcast: Applicants will work with our journalism team to develop ideas for their own podcasts or other media, with the focus on how to find and tell fascinating stories.

Visual Arts
