Equal Opportunities

Here at Huddersfield, we’re making inclusion and equality our number one priority, ensuring that no matter your background and where you’re from, you’re free to be yourself and make an impact.

Here’s just a few of the ways we are championing equality:

Reduced Inequalities

We’re ranked 1st in the world for Reduced Inequalities in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for 2025, which celebrate commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations.

Commitment to mental health

We’ve been awarded the University Mental Health Charter Award in recognition of our continued progress in supporting the mental wellbeing of students and staff. This makes us one of only 15 universities to win the award!

Headstart Huddersfield

We want to make sure everyone has access to higher education. Our fair access scheme offers eligible students the opportunity to gain an extra 8 UCAS points. The scheme aims to provide fairer access to those currently facing barriers and therefore underrepresented in higher education.

Global Professional Award

Global Professional Award

Alongside a degree, our students also complete the Global Professional Award, which enhances key professional skills and creates a stand-out CV.

Using education to make an impact

Rukhsar studied law at Huddersfield and completed the Global Professional Award alongside her studies. With the skills learned, she founded her own law business The Legal Lynk and works to empower women in law while she trains to be a barrister.

Climbing the social mobility ladder

Natalie was the first in her family to go to university. During her time at Huddersfield, she studied social work and completed a 90-day placement at Kirklees council where she put her course theory into practice. Since graduating, she has gone on to secure employment at one of the big 4.
