Why did you choose to study at the University of Huddersfield?
I chose to study at the University of Huddersfield because, even as an international student, I immediately felt a strong connection to the place, when I first learned about the University at an education fair back home. The staff took the time to explain everything clearly, which gave me a lot of confidence about studying in a new country.
Huddersfield immediately stood out because it offered the exact course I wanted, with a placement year that would give me real industry experience. It also has a kind and encouraging community, making it the ideal environment for both personal and professional growth.

What stood out about the Business and Digital Marketing Management course at Huddersfield is its strong balance between theory and practical experience. The course offers real world applications through projects, case studies and a placement year, helping me develop hands on skills in industry demanding areas like SEO, social media marketing, and campaign analysis.
What are some of your favourite things about your course?
Some of my favourite things about the course are how hands on it is and how much I get to apply what I learn in real life situations through case studies and projects. I really enjoy exploring digital marketing strategies, SEO, social media campaigns and data analysis. It’s exciting to see how these skills can make a real impact.

How easy was it to settle into university life as an international student?
Settling into university life as an international student was easier than I expected. Huddersfield’s welcoming community made me feel at home from the start. I joined societies and attended events, which helped me meet new people.
Working on group projects allowed me to collaborate and learn alongside other students.
I also met regularly with my module leaders, which made navigating the course much easier. All these experiences gave me a real sense of belonging and confidence at university.

What support have you received during your time here?
I’ve had so much support during my time here. The Placements Team helped me with my placement search and interview preparation, which really boosted my confidence. The Careers Service supported me with CVs for part-time jobs and guided me through my internship applications.
I also met with my module leaders whenever I needed academic help and they were always approachable and encouraging. Altogether, the support has made my university journey feel much smoother and more reassuring.
What extracurricular activities have you taken part in during your time here?
I’ve really enjoyed getting involved in extracurriculars during my time here. I joined three societies, including the Business School Society and Marketing Society and even worked as the General Secretary for my Kashmir society, where I organised events on welcome week and helped bring students together.
I’m also a Student Ambassador and I’ve supported open days and different campus activities. These activities have made my student life exciting, rewarding and full of great memories.

What are your plans for after you graduate? How has your course helped prepare you?
After I graduate, I plan to start a career in digital marketing, focusing on SEO and analytics roles. My course has given me hands on experience through projects, group work and placements and helped me build practical skills in data analysis and campaign optimisation. I feel confident and ready to apply what I’ve learned to real world marketing roles.
What’s your advice to anyone thinking of studying a Business or Marketing course at Huddersfield?
My advice would be to get involved as much as possible, join societies, attend events and career fairs, meet new people, make friends and make the most of opportunities like placements and internships.
The course gives you a great mix of theory and practical experience, so don’t be afraid to ask questions, collaborate on projects and make the most of the support from lecturers and the careers team.
Huddersfield is a welcoming place and getting stuck in will make your experience even more rewarding.
