Student Success Coaching and Bursary
This non-repayable grant supports students to succeed in their studies and boost their future career prospects
Every student journey through university is different. Our coaching support means that we can get to know our students, provide them with guidance to identify and agree specific goals and the support to achieve them.
The University offers a Student Success Coaching and Bursary to full-time undergraduate Home students identified as requiring additional guidance and financial support during their studies to help them to achieve excellent outcomes. The Bursary is a non-repayable grant to assist students to succeed in their studies and to boost their future career prospects.
The support is tailored towards the needs of each student with eligibility for funding decided prior to their studies and dependent upon engagement with the University’s Student Success Team. To be eligible students must be invited to and be actively engaging with the Student Success Team and their nominated Student Support Coach.
The scheme is designed to support students with the following characteristics:
- Students with a mental health condition.
- Students with Social and Communication Impairment.
- Care Experienced Students.
- Students holding vocational (non A-Level) entry qualifications
- Students on programmes of study with the highest proportion of students holding vocational entry qualifications.
Student Support Coaches provide a programme of information, advice and guidance and agree goals with each student. Dependent on each student’s engagement and financial support needs a maximum of £1000 will be awarded during their undergraduate studies. These may be made in units of £250 dependent on needs and circumstances and will be aligned to goals agreed with their student support coach and contingent on active engagement with their coach and studies.
