Building Operating Schedule

Building Operating Schedule

Dear colleagues,

Following approval at SLT on 19 September, I am writing to advise you of some important changes to our current building operating schedules.

To address the differing operating standards for each building, Estates and Facilities have proposed reduced and standardised operating hours for buildings during none core hours, which will benefit both the management of the ever-increasing utilities costs, but also support the University’s ambitious target of NET Zero by 2030, whilst addressing several key operational risks with a particular note to statutory fire risk management.

The University recognises that there will always be a requirement to access certain campus facilities outside of core hours, therefore some buildings are exempt from the standardised hours.  These buildings are listed in Appendix A, Section B which is saved here - Building Operating Hours.

All out of hour’s events are to be scheduled by Timetabling and must be approved by the Dean or Director in the first instance.  Out of hours events are to be planned in the Oastler Building in the first instance with secondary options being provided, based on space availability and the requirements of the event.

Business critical events for the University, such as Open Days, will not be impacted by these changes.

Please see Appendix A, which outlines the approved Building Operating Schedule and provides further detail for the sections mentioned.   Appendix B provides details of the process to follow when considering booking events outside of the standardised hours.

These changes will take effect from Monday 7 October, please ensure all colleagues within your School/Service are aware of these changes.

I thank you in advance for your support.

Tim
