Developing Sexuality and Sexual Health Research Network

The event will be of interest to researchers and professionals interested in sexuality and sexual health. The aim is to develop a sustainable network of academic researchers interested in sexuality and sexual health research addressing the issues among ethnic and sexual minority and disadvantaged population, including refugees and asylum seekers. The event includes three presentations and broadly centres on the areas of inclusion health, gender and sexual minority healthcare and sex(uality) and health. Dr John Gilmore will consider the role of authentic allyship for Gender and Sexual minority groups in healthcare, the ethics of allyship, strategies to enhance inclusion in an authentic way and the risks of allyship. Dr Toni Wright will provide insights into older LGBTQI+ people’s experiences of receiving homecare services in the community. Dr Rajeeb Kumar Sah, alongside other colleagues, will briefly present the initial ideas and discusses the opportunity for collaboration on a systematic review to synthesise the evidence on experiences of utilising health services related to sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) testing and treatment services among refugees and asylum seekers.
