Research in Conversation series hosts International Women’s Day event

The University of Huddersfield is hosting a panel event bringing together women researchers from across the institution in an International Women’s Day edition of its Research in Conversation series.
The event takes place on Wednesday 18 March from 1.30pm to 2.30pm on campus in the Jo Cox More in Common Centre.
Panellists will explore this year’s International Women’s Day theme of Give To Gain, sharing their research journeys and real experiences in what is expected to be an energising celebration of women's contributions across various sectors.
The event is also a chance to showcase the university’s support for women.
The panel lineup comprises:
- Professor Rowan Bailey – School of Arts and Humanities – is the women's mentor for Pathways to Progression scheme for academic promotion and works with the Council for Higher Education in Art and Design (CHEAD) on initiatives focused on women in academia.
- Dr Samira Awwal – School of Computing and Engineering – is an Early Career Researcher in the school’s Smart House project.
- Emma Pinder – School of Applied Sciences – is a female Technician within the school.
- Sarah Ahmed – School of Business, Education and Law – is Director of Partnerships within the Department of Education and a member of the Women's Staff Network. She is also a mentee undertaking the women's mentoring programme.
Following the panel discussion, there will be an interactive question and answer session, giving the audience the chance to join the conversation.
The free event is open to the public, as well as staff and students, with tickets available through Eventbrite.
