The Bath House Gallery on the University of Huddersfield campus is hosting Stories In Motion, a new exhibition of film and moving image celebrating the culture, communities, and everyday stories of Kirklees.

Stories In Motion is part of Cultures of Film, a collaboration with Kirklees cultural and creative partners bringing together 70 films and stories created by local people to reflect how culture is lived, shaped and shared across the borough.

It is also part of a wider collaborative co-created project between cultural and creative partners from Kirklees, Kirklees Council and Northumbria University as well as the Centre for Cultural Ecologies in Art, Design and Architecture at the University of Huddersfield.

The exhibition, which can be visited for free in Sovereign Design House opposite the Barbara Hepworth Building on campus, marks the beginning of an ongoing conversation about place-based cultural development in Kirklees.

Running until 1 May 2026, the films will also be screened from across the district, including narratives connected to Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Spen Valley, Batley, Holme Valley, Colne Valley, and Denby Dale.

From short-form pieces to longer films, the show presents a wide mix of perspectives on place, identity, belonging, wellbeing, and culture. Films are presented across four gallery spaces and cover three themes: Learning, Health and Wellbeing and Heritage.
