Huddersfield Business School launches partnership scheme with regional firms

Huddersfield Business School has launched a new partnership scheme, creating a network of organisations to share their expertise and time in a bid to boost the curriculum, support student projects and strengthen engagement.
The Partners in Business scheme began, alongside the return of the Partners in Accounting scheme, with an event which brought together all partners on campus.
The initiative is designed to create a collaborative relationship where both students within the University of Huddersfield’s Business School and the professionals involved can benefit.
For the University, the aim is to boost students’ confidence and improve graduate outcomes by increasing real-world experiences such as placements, mentoring and guest lectures, as well as supporting curriculum development via networking and sharing new practices and processes in industry.
While for the partners, there is the chance to build strategic connections with other regional businesses, to leverage academic expertise to support innovation, and to attract emerging talent through internships and placements.
This year, a total of 14 companies and organisations have got involved in the Partners in Business and Partners in Accounting schemes and will support students across all year groups and subjects within the Business School.
Dr Kay Best, Head of Department for Business, commented: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the staff and students from the Business School and colleagues from local businesses to work together for mutual benefit.”
Partner firms range from large international businesses to smaller local practices, including PwC, Lloyds Banking Group, Accu, Kirk Newsholme, Simpson Wood, Yorkshire Water, Mamas and Papas, HD Accountancy, Northern Accountants, Fishtank Agency, Kirklees Council, Covea Insurance, Wheawill & Sudworth, SA Chopdat & Co.
The Partners in Business and Accounting event follows on from the recent successful launch of the 2025 mentoring scheme for final year undergraduates within the Business School. A total of 24 mentor-mentee partnerships were secured following a Meet the Mentors networking event.
