The award-winning None in Three (Ni3) Centre is to host Play. Talk. Change. (PTC), a free two-day online conference on 24 and 25 June focusing on developing prosocial games as a means for violence prevention in India, Jamaica, Uganda and the UK organised by young people in each of these countries.

PTC is a youth-led virtual global gathering of game developers, early career researchers, and change makers standing together against gender-based violence.

You can register for the conference now on Eventbrite.

Ni3 takes its name from the statistic that 1 in 3 women worldwide will experience gender-based violence (GBV) in their lifetime. Ni3's mission is to make this 0 in 3. They do this by bringing together social science researchers with game developers to create innovative, interactive, anti-violence computer games.

Nine Zoom sessions across the two days will include:

  • high profile keynote speakers from the worlds of game development
  • research and violence prevention
  • showcasing of the Ni3 video games
  • sessions sharing the particular challenges and requirements of addressing and preventing violence in each country.

Further details including the full programme can be found on the event website.

The conference is designed by young people, with a primary audience of their peers in mind, but people of all ages are warmly welcomed.

"It is amazing to see what these young researchers have produced for this lively and informative event,” says Centre Director Nadia Wager.

“Who better to raise the discussions and engage in the debates than our leading researchers of the future, who have grown up with the very technology we are harnessing to promote social justice."
