Industry and academia working together to enhance patient care

A new learning suite featuring a range of market leading healthcare devices for the University of Huddersfield’s Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy students is being provided by Prism Healthcare, a leading designer and manufacturer of affordable, clinically effective healthcare products

 AN exciting new collaboration between the University of Huddersfield and Prism Healthcare will see industry and academia working together to enhance patient care. 

Prism Healthcare, a leading designer and manufacturer of affordable, clinically effective healthcare products, will provide a range of market leading healthcare devices for a new learning suite for Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy students at the University of Huddersfield. 

The equipment will offer students the opportunity to get hands-on experience with clinical care equipment. Students will gain insight and understanding of how the devices can be used safely and effectively while maintaining exceptional levels of patient care. 

Academics from the University’s School of Human and Health Sciences will also be offering their knowledge and expertise to review and endorse a series of training packages, that Prism Healthcare have developed for delivery to clinical practitioners across the country. The review will confirm that the training meets clinical care standards and quality. 

The team at Prism Healthcare, based at their headquarters in Wakefield, is looking forward to working closely with the University of Huddersfield.

Prism Healthcare’s Chief Executive Officer, Paul Morton, said they are particularly delighted to have the opportunity to share Prism Healthcare’s product and therapeutic expertise in moving, handling and bathing.

“Training and education form a fundamental part of the Prism Healthcare business and we know the direct impact this has on the achievement of high-quality standards of care,” he said.

Professor Paul Bissell, Dean of the School of Human and Health Sciences, explained why it was so imperative for industry and academia to work together.

“Working in partnership with businesses is important to ensure that our students and staff are kept abreast of new cutting-edge technological developments from the commercial sector. 

“This helps us to better inform our engaged teaching and applied research – ensuring that our students and staff are making a real-world impact on people and places,” said Professor Bissell.

“We look forward to collaborating with Prism Healthcare both to enrich the learning environment for our students and to provide Prism Healthcare with academic insight into their products and services,” he added.
