Professor John Anchor showcased the University’s strategy map in his presentation

A PROFESSOR of International Strategy in the University and Associate Dean (International) in the Business School, has led a workshop concerned with the strategic management of the University of Huddersfield to 125 staff at one of Vietnam’s top universities.

Professor John Anchor presented for two hours about the University’s Strategy Map 2013 – 2018 at the National Economics University in Hà Nội, the capital of Vietnam. He then answered questions on it for a further 45 minutes.

He said: “it was a great privilege to be asked to present on our best practice at Huddersfield to such an interested and well informed audience. The questions which were asked were of very high quality and host colleagues had really done their homework on the University of Huddersfield”.

Professor Anchor added: “it was most timely for me too because the University is currently reviewing the content of and progress  with the Strategy Map in anticipation of the 2018-2025 version. As they say, to teach is to learn and this presentation certainly helped me to crystallize my thoughts about our strategy and associated Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).  Given my role and academic expertise, I have a particular interest in the University’s international strategy, of course. Nevertheless, my presentation covered the full range of the University’s strategies.”

Professor Anchor was introduced by Professor Tran Tho Dat, President of the National Economics University, with whom he also met privately. Huddersfield Business School are now exploring co-operation in a joint  PhD programme  with the International College at NEU.
