Tuition fees for EU nationals

If you are a current EU student (i.e. enrolled in September 2020 or earlier), you will be able to pay UK fees for the duration of your studies, even if your course finishes after the UK's exit from the EU. This covers undergraduate and postgraduate taught and research courses. This also includes access to student loans for the duration of your course, even if this finishes after the UK's exit from the EU.
The key dates for EU student are:

31 December 2020

If you are a new or continuing EU student, you can continue to enter the UK up to the 31 December 2020 without the need for a student visa. ID cards and passports will be sufficient documentation and European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC) will remain valid.

You can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) up to the 30 June 2021. If your application is successful, this will give you pre-settled status and you won’t need to apply for a student visa if you are continuing your studies after the 30 June 2021.
If you are an EU student who has arrived in the UK before the 31 December 2020 and you do not apply under the EUSS, you will need a student visa after the deadline passes on 30 June 2021. The UK Home Office has not confirmed how this process will work yet, so you will need to ensure that you keep yourself and the University updated on your situation.

We recommend that you enter the UK by 31 December 2020 and maintain evidence of your entry to the UK. If you cannot obtain a stamp in your passport, you should keep a boarding pass or other evidence of your arrival date in the UK, such as your electronic flight confirmation.

The University will require confirmation of the following before we can enrol you on your programme in January 2021:

  • Evidence of a grant of leave under the EU settlement scheme – if you have that, please send a copy to permissiontostudy@hud.ac.uk

  • Evidence that you have applied under the EU settlement scheme – if you have that, please send a copy to permissiontostudy@hud.ac.uk  OR

  • Evidence that you entered the UK BEFORE 23.00 31 December 2020

  • A copy of your student visa

  • Copy of a visa in a different immigration category which permits study in the UK

If you do not intend to apply under the EU settlement scheme and wish to apply for a Student visa, please email euadmissions@hud.ac.uk for information about your next steps.

Please note that applications for the EU settlement scheme are free of charge. There are significant costs associated with a Student visa application.

1 January 2021

If you are a new EU student arriving in the UK after 1 January 2021, you will require a Student visa to study in the UK. You will require evidence of your immigration status and right to study in the UK if you wish to enrol at the University for the January 2021 and any future intakes.

Please note, the EUSS will not be available to those arriving in the UK after 31 December 2020.
