About the School

The School of Music, Humanities and Media provides a vibrant teaching, learning and research environment for over 1800 students and around 130 staff encompassing Drama, English Language, Linguistics and Modern Languages, English Literature and Creative Writing, History, Journalism, Media and Film and Music and Music Technology.

Our School is an exciting place in which to learn and work. We aim to deliver an inspirational learning experience and undertake pioneering research with a practical emphasis. Our staff are innovative and creative practitioners who offer expertise in their field and bring energy and enthusiasm to their work. 

We offer a varied and exciting portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and the team pride themselves on their commitment to supporting students. We believe strongly in the quality of the support we offer to our students, employers and all our working partners. This support comes not just from our Higher Education Academy qualified academic staff, but also through our professional administrative services and technical support teams.  This, along with our modern facilities, has allowed us to establish a reputation for the quality of our courses, our teaching and our internationally recognised research.
