Revive Reuse Pop up Charity Shop

Local Huddersfield based Charity Revive Reuse are holding a stall on campus selling pre-loved items for a minimal cost. There will be some money off vouchers available to redeem in their retail shop too for some lucky visitors!

The charity has a permanent shop based next to Huddersfield bus station selling a range of homeware, clothing, footwear, small electrical items, LP’s, books and bric-a-brac.

Revive Reuse source a variety of quality, reusable items, that have been intercepted at recycling sites in the area. This reduces the number of reusable items being sent to landfill or incineration and make them available to our local communities at affordable prices.

There are also two donation banks based on campus for you to donate your unwanted clothing and goods which are located in the Charles Sikes Car Park and at the top of Commercial Street (just behind the Barbara Hepworth Building).

Come along to the Pop-up stall  and find yourself some treasure!

Our November 2025 'Green Week' Tree planting date is scheduled for Tuesday 18th November 2025.

Time: 12.15PM-16.00PM (approximately).

Colne Valley Cycle Therapy will be offering cycling skills sessions where you can try out a bike on campus, learn to ride for beginners, or brush up on your cycling skills. A session will last two hours and will take place on University Square (outside of the Student Central area) and may progress down to the canal tow path.

Please wear appropriate warm clothing for outdoor weather and flat, sensible shoes. Long skirts or dresses will not be appropriate for cycling, due to the risk of the clothing getting caught in moving mechanical parts and causing an accident.

All helmets and bikes will be provided. Run by Colne Valley Cycle Therapy’s qualified ride leaders and instructors.

If you have your own bike and you would like to join a session, then please feel free to bring it and join us on either day.

Bro's Breakfast

The Staff Wellbeing Team are hosting a 'Bro's Breakfast' just for men, as part of International Men's Day, a relaxed breakfast drop in designed for male colleagues to learn about men's mental health and wellbeing support.

There will be stalls from the Huddersfield Town Foundation, Gait and Performance Clinic, People and Organisational Development Team, Active Hud and The Sustainability Team.

Refreshments 

 Tea/coffee and breakfast will be available from 7:30am.

Mini Moss Terrariums

Join us to build a tiny little self-contained garden to keep on your desk or windowsill. The drainage base will be laid, then a layer of soil, followed by the moss and plants.

All materials and tools will be provided.

Thread Republic Pop Up Haberdashery

Location: Student Central (Outside the Students Union Shop)

Do you enjoy textile crafts? Shop from a range of sustainable fabrics and haberdashery to suit all your creative needs.

Thread Republic will be hosting a stall in the Student Central, bringing along plenty of fabrics, yarns and haberdashery goodies to encourage and inspire students and staff to get creative - all while making environmentally friendly shopping choices and saving textile waste from going to landfill!

Thread Republic CIC is a textiles re-use hub and scrap store haberdashery that provides community workshops, events and socials aimed at enhancing well-being through creativity whilst also engaging people with the topic of sustainability. Their shop is currently based in the Huddersfield Piazza, sharing a space with West Yorkshire Print Workshop, and is open from 10:30-3:30 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Thread Republic also have sewing machines available to hire, a free to use communal creative library, monthly clothes swap events and a range of bookable creative workshops hosted in-store. There are also various stitch social events each month, where you can meet and chat with like-minded crafting enthusiasts and enjoy some refreshments - a great opportunity to have a break from your busy student schedules!

Thread Republic also offers a membership scheme, with benefits such as discounts on your shopping, workshops and events; and free entry to any of their Stitch Socials.

There will also be chance to enquire about volunteering opportunities at their stall if you’re interested in what they do and want to get involved.

Located at Southgate in the centre of Huddersfield, the building is named in honour of the NHS’s first black matron Daphne Steele and is already welcoming healthcare students through its doors.

This highly sustainable building is the second University building to be built to the prestigious WELL Platinum Building Standard which ensures the highest standards for the health and wellbeing of students, staff and users.

You will have the opportunity to see the specialist clinical teaching facilities, world leading research facilities and the public facing clinics and service spaces, where the next generation of healthcare professionals will learn the skills and knowledge needed to help improve health outcomes and lead innovation in healthcare for the North of England.

Then come and meet our local representative from the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to find out how you can become involved and empowered to take more action for nature and help wildlife thrive.

You can also make a wild flower seed ball to take home and plant in your green space or plant pot to grow pollinating flowers.
