Apprenticeships provide a great benefit to employers because they allow you to train and upskill your staff while they work.

Higher and Degree apprenticeships offer a combination of 80% work-based learning and 20% off-the-job study in a higher education environment. Not only will the apprentice learn new workplace skills, but they will graduate with a qualification equivalent to a degree, from level 5 (foundation degree) to level 7 (master's degree).

Benefits of apprenticeships for employers

Degree apprenticeships are cost-effective because larger employers can use their apprenticeship levy contributions to invest in the qualification, while Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can take advantage of the 5% contribution scheme.

In addition, apprenticeships help you to:

  • Attract new, motivated talent to your organisation.
  • Boost staff positivity and retention by investing in your existing employees and their careers.
  • Gain high level qualifications supported by government funding via the apprenticeship levy.
  • Access a dedicated apprenticeship team to support your business and your apprenticeship through their journey at the University of Huddersfield.

Apprentices can be new or existing employees of your organisation who want to enhance their knowledge and develop their careers. They will be paid in accordance with the job they are working, while the course fees will be funded through the apprenticeship levy scheme.
