The University will award scholarships of up to £2,000 per year for every year of your course* to our international applicants.**
We will automatically consider any full-fee paying international applicant that has to pay overseas fees that makes an application to the University. There is no need to fill out an additional application form and we will advise you if you have been successful when you receive an offer of a place from us so that you can begin to plan your finances.
*Excludes placement years **Applicants with refugee, asylum-seeker status or indefinite leave to remain in the UK, or those here on dependency visas will not qualify.
Scholarships to progress from Bachelor's to Master's

Must have a minimum of 2.1 degree classification
Scholarships of £4,000 are available for students studying an undergraduate degree and wish to also study a Master’s degree at the University. To be eligible you must receive a 2.1 (upper second) on your undergraduate programme at the University of Huddersfield, be self-funded and be applying for your Master’s degree within two years of graduation from the University. You can also apply if you are studying one of our degrees off-campus. You will be considered automatically when you apply so there is no need to fill in a separate application.
Africa School of Education and Professional Development Scholarships
This scholarship is worth £2000 towards the cost of your tuition fees, in addition to the Scholarships for new international Master's students. It is available for all African students who are self-funded and have applied for a postgraduate taught course in the School of Education and Professional Development. Students will be automatically considered for this so a separate application form is not required. This prestigious and highly competitive award is a full scholarship covering your tuition fees and living expenses. Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The programme makes awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study postgraduate courses at universities in the UK. The Chevening programme was established in 1983 and has developed into a prestigious international scheme. Chevening Scholars come from more than 150 countries and territories worldwide (excluding the USA and the EU), and this year the Scholarships will support more than 1500 individuals. There are over 43,000 Chevening alumni around the world who together comprise an influential and highly regarded global network. The programme provides full or part funding for full-time courses at postgraduate level, normally a one-year Master’s degree, in any subject and at any UK university. Harold Wilson Scholarship
One full tuition fee scholarship is being awarded to mark the centenary of Harold Wilson's birth.
The scholarship will be offered for a postgraduate taught (Master's) programme, which is taught in one of the participating Schools:
Art, Design and Architecture
Education and Professional Development
Human and Health Sciences
Music, Humanities and Media.
The International Office will provide a living stipend of £2,500 to the student who is awarded the scholarship.
Terms and conditions
The scholarship will be launched as part of the centenary celebrations for Harold Wilson in March 2016.
It is only available to residents of a Commonwealth country.
It will only be available to those starting a postgraduate taught (Master's) programme in the September 2016 intake.
It is only open to offer holders.
It will be merit-based, considered using academic grades and a personal statement of 500 words.
Candidates must not be in receipt of any other scholarships or financial support.
Applications will close on 31 May 2016 and the successful candidate will be notified by 15 June 2016.
The first scholarship will be awarded for the September 2016 intake.
The International Office will select the best qualified applicants, on the basis of academic grades, before asking Schools to consider based on a committee made up of International Directors and the Director of International Development.

The University of Huddersfield Business School and School of Computing and Engineering are pleased to invite applications for the Myanmar Scholarship. Two 50% tuition fee scholarships are available for self-funded students undertaking a full-time taught Master’s or Bachelor Top-up starting in September 2017. We are looking for two exceptional students from Myanmar with outstanding academic records and who are also able to communicate, through the application process, how obtaining a Master’s or Bachelor Top-up at the University of Huddersfield Business School or School of Computing and Engineering will contribute to their own ambitions and the social or economic development of their country. All scholarship applicants must first receive an offer of a place on their chosen course.
The scholarships are to be awarded to four self-funded, full-fee paying students from Myanmar applying to study on a full-time postgraduate taught course or Bachelor Top-up at the University of Huddersfield; one student in the Business School and one at the School of Computing and Engineering.
Applicants must have already applied to the University of Huddersfield and received an offer of a place on a full-time taught Master's or Bachelor Top-up in the Business School or School of Computing and Engineering.
Applicants who are in receipt of any donor funding or government/company sponsorships will not be eligible for this scholarship.
The scholarship scheme is competitive and all applications will be considered on merit.
Applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic performance, which they are able to evidence within their course application. The University reserves the right to request further evidence where necessary.
Applicants must have a formal qualification in English language (i.e. IELTS) which meets the University’s and the course entry requirements. This will normally be IELTS 6.0 or an acceptable equivalent test with no lower than 5.5 in any single band.
The submission of falsified or counterfeit documents will disqualify the applicant from consideration. Personal statements which are found to be plagiarised or copied will also result in disqualification.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
The decision of the awarding panel is final.

To supply an application letter indicating why you should be awarded a scholarship. Indicate how obtaining the degree will contribute to your own ambitions and the social or economic development of your country.
The deadline for submission of September 2017 applications is 30 June 2017. Any applications submitted after this date will not be considered.
The successful September applicants will be notified by 7 July 2017.

Vietnam International Education Development (VIED) Scholarships
The University of Huddersfield has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Vietnam International Education Development (VIED). The agreement which comes under the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) offers scholarships to outstanding students from Vietnam who wish to undertake Bachelors, Masters or doctoral research degrees at the University of Huddersfield. The full scholarships are aimed at Vietnamese students holding international Olympiad awards, government officials, and teachers and lecturers looking to advance their qualifications. 1.1 Higher education lecturers or researchers who are working under valid employment contracts with Vietnam higher education institutions.
1.2 University graduates or post-graduates (with Master's degree) who have completed their Bachelor or Master programmes within the past 12 months, achieve good academic performance and show strong commitment to become lecturers in Vietnam higher education institutions after graduation.
Course duration and mode of delivery

Successful candidates must complete all required documentation and start their academic programmes not later than 12 months after receiving the scholarship results.
Candidate must be of good moral character and is physically healthy. Candidate must show commitment to come back to serve as lecturer at the sending Vietnam higher education institution after graduation.
Candidate is not more than 45 years old.
Candidate’s proposed field of study/ research should be related to the field of the Bachelor/ Master programs he/she had completed.
Candidate must obtain recommendation letter or official correspondence from current employer (as for Target group 1.1) or employment acceptance offer from Vietnam higher education institution (as for Target group 1.2).
Candidate must show evidence of sufficient proficiency in the language referring to the proposed research programme.
Candidate from target group 1.1 must show both Undergraduate and Graduate Degree.
Candidate from target group 1.2 must obtain excellent academic performance with overall Grade Point Average (GPA) from a college/university with at least 8.0/10.0 in their Bachelor or Master programmes. Candidate ONLY with an undergraduate degree must also have PhD acceptance letter of the foreign host institution.
Candidate from target group 1.2 must have employment acceptance letter from a Vietnam college/ university which shows after-graduation job offer as higher education lecturer. Candidate must also show declaration from parents/supervisor ensures that all his/ her responsibilities and duties with the aforementioned college/ university will be fulfilled.
Recommendation letter/ official correspondence from current employer (college/university) with full list of other recommending candidates
Notarised copies of employment contracts; social insurance certificate or payroll; or employment acceptance offer from Vietnam higher education institutions (as for Target group 1.2)
