At the University of Huddersfield, the safety of our students is incredibly important. Whoever you are, whatever your background, belief or orientation, you should be able to embrace and enjoy your university experience.
As this is often the first taste of true independence many of our students experience, whether living at university or commuting, we have several safety and security measures in place to ensure university life is safe for everyone. Not only that, but according to CrimeRate, Huddersfield is ranked as the safest area in West Yorkshire. So, you can be sure, if you choose Huddersfield, you’re in safe hands.
Safety on campus
We have a range of safety procedures and processes that have been put in place to ensure that our campus is safe, secure and accessible for students.

Security Hub
We have a dedicated security team based in our Harold Wilson Building. It’s their job to monitor activity across the campus all year round.

Access on Campus
We keep strict opening times across the campus which provides students with access throughout the day, and additional access out of hours.

Your Safer Student Officer
We have a dedicated member of the West Yorkshire Police stationed at the University of Huddersfield. It’s their job provide advice, information and support.

Share and Support
The University’s online reporting tool allows students to report incidents of hate crime, bullying, sexual violence and other anti-social behaviour.
