Our interactive workshops are a great opportunity to experience what it's like to study at university level.
In this section we showcase our available workshops under the Mechanical, Civil and Electrical subject areas. Please contact us to discuss your preferred workshops and delivery option.
Suitable for Level 3/Year 12-13 school or college groups.
Mechanical Engineering

Can the Aerospace Industry be Sustainable?
We will look at some of the engineering design principles, and materials technology that can contribute to a greener future for Aviation.

Engineering: Global Grand Challenges
This team challenge allows students to explore engineering skills, working together to solve real world problems based on global grand challenges.

How do Engineers help surgeons save lives?
Learn how scientific and mathematical principles are used by engineers to design and develop devices which help preserve the quality of life for people through surgical intervention.
Civil Engineering

Test in Tension Metals
Students will gain an understanding of structural materials and how these are required to withstand a variety of applied loads in use. Investigate how materials behave under tensile loading, tensile failure and how they deform.

Bridge Construction Challenge
Working as engineering teams, students will design and create model beam bridges using paper drinking straws and tape as their construction materials

Test on Fluid Channel
Students will explore water flow in a fluid channel to understand fundamental fluid dynamics concepts. Observe how water moves through different channel shapes and obstacles.

Test in Torsion of Metals
Students will get to perform torsion tests on small metal specimens (steel, aluminium, copper, brass) to study their mechanical behaviour under twisting.
Electrical Engineering

Feeling the Force
Measuring the force of magnetic fields.

Introduction to logic gates and digital circuits
An opportunity for your students will learn about the various types of digital logic gates.
