A postgraduate qualification is a great way to improve your professional prospects, change your career path or master your passion. And at Huddersfield we’re proud that 93.8% of our postgraduate students go on to work and/or further study within six months of graduating (DLHE 2016/17). Postgraduate degrees and research are challenging, inspiring and can make a huge difference to your professional life. In fact, the average starting salary of our postgraduates is £28.7K per annum (DLHE 2016/17).
In some professions, including teaching, law, architecture and health, you’ll be required to gain industry accreditation as standard*. Within other sectors, a postgraduate qualification will allow you to stand out from the crowd with specialist knowledge, expertise and skills or even allow you to change career direction entirely.
Whatever your reasons, studying at Huddersfield means that you’ll have access to great employment support through our Careers and Employability Service – not just whilst you’re here, but throughout your working life.
*Please see individual courses for more information on accreditation by professional bodies.
“I have come from a business background, so the MBA is going to enrich my career. After looking at the CV’s of most of my managers and directors, it was clear that they all had an MBA qualification which really pushed my decision to continue my studies. Connecting the theory with my experience has been really beneficial.”

Master of Enterprise Research
"Huddersfield has a unique, entrepreneurial spirit where interdisciplinary collaboration, creative experimentation and interaction with industry is celebrated. The financial and pastoral support I received from the Enterprise Team was instrumental to the success of my business as were the many valuable contacts I made during my time there."
If you’re currently employed, don’t let that stop you from looking into postgraduate study.
It’s worth speaking with your manager as many employers support their staff by contributing towards the cost of study. There are many professional benefits and managers often understand the value a postgraduate course can offer, particularly the valuable knowledge and skills that can be related to your workplace or professional practice.
Student: Technology Enhanced Learning
"Studying part time whilst working as a learning technologist meant that I could put into practice everything I was learning straight away. I have been a Learning Technologist for the last 6.5 years so it felt like the right time to enhance my knowledge. Studying part time whilst working full time meant that I worked on my coursework before work and on an evening, whenever I had some free time."
