University Highlighted on 'Vegan-friendly Universities' List

As more students than ever before are going vegan, PETA has released a list of 20 vegan-friendly universities in the UK to celebrate the institutions that best support students looking for more eco-friendly food options.

The animal rights group has selected 20 universities based on the availability of plant-based food options on campus and their initiatives to promote vegan eating. And the University of Huddersfield earned a spot on the list, thanks to Veggie Hut, the vegetarian and vegan café, which opened its doors this year on level 5, Student Central. It has already become a favourite spot on campus for students and its menu includes delights like vegan blueberry croissants and "fish" and chips made with banana blossom.

"Students in the UK are going vegan in huge numbers, and it's great to see universities joining the revolution," says PETA Director Elisa Allen. "PETA commends the University of Huddersfield for offering healthy and delicious vegan food options that everyone can enjoy."
