Cultures of Film, and the School of Arts and Humanities, are excited to announce Stories in Motion, an exhibition celebrating the culture, communities, and stories of Kirklees, showcasing films and moving image works, submitted by the community of Kirklees, that celebrate, challenge, inform, and inspire change.
Running from Monday 26 January to Friday 1 May 2026, the exhibition brings together films from across the district, including narratives connected to Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Spen Valley, Batley, Holme Valley, Colne Valley, and Denby Dale.
A launch event will be held on Thursday 5 February between 4pm and 7pm at the Bath House Gallery, Sovereign Design House to celebrate Cultures of Film and the exhibition.
Stories in Motion is open from Monday 26 January until Friday 1 May (closed Friday 3 April - Monday 6 April).

Cultures of Film is the place-based research festival from the School of Arts and Humanities for 2026 that aims to mobilise film/moving image as a tool for investigation, exploration, community action and telling stories of change.
This exhibition is co-curated and co-produced by Cultures of Film (Professor Rowan Bailey, Claire Bend, Dr Claire Booth-Kurpnieks, Dr Laura Mateescu and Dr Claire Tymon) in partnership with Arooj Shah , Creative Health Hub, Culture Collective, Ellie Waters, hoot, Kirklees Local Television, Kirklees Council, Kirklees Museums and Galleries, Kirklees Libraries, Proper Job Theatre Company, Rob Crisp, Ruth Dyer , Support 2 Recovery, The Children’s Art School, Thread Republic, Vicky Holliday, We Are Local, West Yorkshire Print Workshop, and Zee Y.
The co-produced work presented here is part of a wider project about the development of Kirklees Cultural Strategy.
