Congratulations Gill Waring!
Well done to Gill Waring on receiving the Cavell Star Award. This award is presented by the Cavell Nurses' Trust and celebrates registered nurses who go above and beyond in supporting colleagues, patients, and patients' families.
Gill (Senior Lecturer in Children's Nursing) was nominated by Abbey Holder (Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing), who submitted the entry based on Gill's dedication, compassion and commitment to her colleagues in the nursing department.
The award recognises that Gill not only fulfils her professional responsibilities as a registered nurse but also as a caring colleague. By providing a positive experience for students and staff, Gill contributes to the University's priorities around mental health and wellbeing, high-quality teaching and staff and student support.
"Gill genuinely cares for the people she works with. She provides encouragement when colleagues are having difficult moments and truly values those around her and encourages staff to have a voice. Gill is an encouraging presence and frequently takes time out of her day to check in with colleagues to ensure they feel supported and part of the team.
"Gill not only emulates the 6 Cs with her professionalism and compassion but also shows kindness and tries to create a positive working culture. Gill treats colleagues with dignity and empathy whilst also being a reassuring presence in our team. Gill really values the positive contribution the team can make to her working life, and this then ultimately filters down to the students as our next generation of Registered Nurses," commented Abby Holden.
Well done Gill!
