Writing an Impactful Narrative
As part of the major development in the RIKE service to better support academic staff, we are now on to our 4th Impact Training Programme session.
This session will focus on helping you craft a strong, compelling narrative that clearly communicates the impact of your research. Whether you’re preparing for REF or simply want to articulate the value of your work more effectively, this workshop will guide you through the essential elements of impactful storytelling.
We’ll explore how to:
- Link research outcomes to real-world change
- Use evidence to demonstrate impact
- Structure a narrative that resonates with varied audiences
The session includes a short presentation followed by a practical workshop, giving you time and space to begin developing a tailored impact narrative based on your own research. It will be delivered twice both in person and online, so you can choose the format that best suits your schedule.
By the end of the session, participants will:
- Have a working draft of their own impact narrative
- Gain practical tips to refine and strengthen it over time
- Better understand the structure of REF case studies
- Feel more confident in presenting their research impact clearly and effectively
You can also explore our new Impact webpages, where you’ll find:
- On-demand training and short-form resources
- Practical guidance on building and evidencing impact
- Introductions to the Impact team and details about 1:1 support
Join us for this hands-on session and take the next step in communicating your research impact with confidence.
