Jo Cox More in Common WELL Building tours
Are you curious to have a look around the Jo Cox More in Common Building on campus and learn more about how it has been built and operates? Come and join us on a guided tour!
The building is the first on campus, and only a handful of buildings in the UK to be awarded with the prestigious Platinum WELL Building Standard. This is a standard that enhances the building user’s health and wellbeing and focuses on the building being built with natural materials and operating sustainably, over ten separate concepts.
The building is named after the MP Jo Cox and commemorates her ‘More in Common’ message as well as her ideas and ethos.
The primary purpose of the building is a multifaith centre and meeting point for all Staff and Students, to provide a peaceful space for reflection, prayers, and mindfulness.
The centre comprises of a community space, a congregational hall, separate male and female Muslim prayer rooms, ablution facilities, Christian and multi-faith rooms and a Chaplain’s office. Some of the University’s counselling and learning support services are located in this contemporary and restful space.
