Upcoming Staff Wellbeing Initiatives
Staff Pop Choir
The staff wellbeing team are pleased to announce after a short break over the summer, our staff pop choir rehearsals will resume this Thursday lunch time. 12.15-1pm in RSG/03 (Music Seminar Room). There's no audition, and no previous experience is necessary. You won’t be asked to sing on your own (unless you really want to!). All staff are welcome to attend.
Why join the choir?
Singing has been shown to deliver a host of physical and emotional benefits, including improved breathing, posture, mindset, confidence, and self-esteem. It's also fun, makes you feel good, is a great social activity and a way to meet people from across the University.
Our Choir Leader - Sue Bennett, Musica Kirklees
Sue is an experienced vocal teacher and choir director who is passionate about helping people find their voices and develop a love of singing. Sue has been working with Musica Kirklees since 2015, directing youth and community choirs across Kirklees. During lockdown she directed Warbling for Wellness for Kirklees Council and currently directs Musica Mirfield Community Choir and Youth choir.
You can sign up to join the choir here. You will be added to the email distribution list and a Microsoft Teams group where you will be able to download all the song lyrics. We look forward to seeing you there!

Hear what our group members say about Talk and Support
‘It’s lovely to meet like minded people having the same life issues as me. It’s good to talk to people who listen and can offer advice and suggestions from their own experiences. I’ve learned lots and ironed out a lot of my menopause symptoms from following advice and suggestions from this group of marvellous women’
'The Menopause Group is a safe, welcoming and friendly space where I have been able to listen to, talk to, and learn from people with shared experiences and understanding. Many people in the group are happy to share their experience and knowledge, but you don’t have to!'
You can join the group here.
