Human Library - Tuesday 12th March
Tuesday 12th March, 11am - 1pm, Community Hall - Jo Cox Centre (JCG/05)
Following a successful Huddersfield Human Library launch at the Teaching and Learning Conference 2023, we are bringing it back for Inclusion Week 2024 for another opportunity to 'read' a living book! At a Human Library, attendees can borrow a ‘Living Book’ to have an open, honest and respectful conversation with someone who is willing to share their story – for example, discrimination they have faced because of their lifestyle. Attending the session will give attendees an insight into the life experiences of others, challenging stigmas and stereotypes through dialogue and personal conversations.
The session will be split into 3 readings, starting at 11am, 11.50am, and 12:30pm. You can attend for one or all readings, 'reading' one book per session.
If you have a preference on which book you would like to read, you can indicate this in the sign-up form and we will do our best to accommodate preferences.
Please click here if you would like to register to attend.

Here's what some of last year's attendees had to say:
I found it really powerful. The honesty in the room and the opportunity to have genuine conversations without fear of using the wrong language that was really powerful. In normal day to day working life, there is sometimes the fear of saying the wrong thing. This wiped away all these barriers and allowed genuine discussion.
Everyone has a story to tell. Remembering that there is always some common ground or something to admire about everyone you meet.
