Exploring Educational Gain: Moving In, Moving Through, Moving On

We define educational gain as the experiences we provide that make a difference to our students’ lives, enriching and accelerating learning and personal development beyond what otherwise might be achieved.

The Teaching and Learning Conference, 2025 is your place to share the ways that you identify, explore and encourage educational gain within your practice.

We invite you to contribute either a 20-minute presentation/discussion paper or 50-minute workshop, which might address one of the following themes:

  1. Capturing and harnessing the transformative experience of higher education
  2. Innovative practice which adds value to students during their journey with us both within their programmes of study and/or extra-curricular activities
  3. Curriculum practices for community development and employer outreach, and impact on student outcomes
  4. Enhancing cultural understanding and understanding of culture
  5. Inclusive approaches and design for learning
  6. Surfacing what the metrics don’t tell us

The conference will include an introduction from Professor Jane Owen Lynch setting out the University’s interpretation of educational gain and its importance to our student community.  There will also be keynotes from invited speakers.

Please submit an abstract of up to 300 words stating whether you intend to offer a presentation or workshop. You can include citations, or not, as you feel appropriate but do include them in the word count.

Please submit your abstract using the online form here

The deadline for submissions is 5pm, 28 February 2025

Registering for TLC25 - The full programme for the conference will be circulated in the late Spring, giving you the opportunity to book your place and make your workshop choices.
