Staff Parking Survey

Staff Parking Survey Feedback

Estates and Facilities would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete the recent parking survey. All staff were invited to take part and we received a total of 1101 completed surveys.

The survey was completed by staff who currently have parking permits, those on the waiting list and by many staff who don’t have permits and use a variety of different parking solutions.

As you might expect, it has provided a wide range of views and differing responses based on the needs and working patterns of staff, as well as a huge amount of qualitative date that we are continuing to analyse.

The type of respondent and their views on parking can be broadly broken down into 4 key groups. The views of each key group on parking, its current operation and potential changes are summarised below:

A number of respondents stated that a mixture of license to hunt/Pay as You Go and guaranteed spaces could work well. There were lots of concerns expressed around ‘license to hunt’ not accommodating late starters. There was also a suggestion that some license to hunt bays could be reserved for late starters.

It is clear that there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution, and a number of different options are being explored to inform the University’s future parking strategy. A new parking solution for the university is going to take some time to finalise, particularly as it is likely to require installation of parking technology within at least some of our car parks.

As solutions are developed further information will be made available, but we would like to again thank all staff who have provided feedback and assure you that your views are being taken into consideration.
