Lesbian Visibility Day - 26th April
Today is Lesbian Visibility Day! This day is celebrated to show solidarity with all lesbian people in the LGBTQI+ community, as well as recognising and celebrating the range of lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer identities within the community. To mark the day, the Progress Pride flag is being flown outside St. Paul's today.
Lesbian visibility is crucial for representation, validation, and advocacy. It ensures that lesbians are seen and heard in society, challenging stereotypes, fostering acceptance, and empowering individuals to advocate for their rights. Visibility also promotes education and awareness about lesbian experiences, builds supportive communities, and provides inspiration for future generations. Ultimately, lesbian visibility contributes to a more inclusive and equitable society, where everyone can live authentically and without fear of discrimination.
Stonewall, a leading charity for LGBTQI+ equality has a lesbian hub dedicated to celebrating and raising awareness of issues faced by people identifying as a lesbian, including notable campaigns for lesbian equality in the UK.
