On Friday the 14th of July, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Andrew Ball alongside Dr John Synnott warmly received Professor Dr Anek Laothamatas, The Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Thailand and Police Lieutenant General Zenith Samransamruadkit, the Commissioner of the Royal Police Cadet Academy, together with a delegation of officers and staff from the Ministry and Royal Thai Police respectively.
This visit marks a further development in the University's established relationship with Thailand, where we have joint agreements in place with Mahidol University to support projects of mutual interest.
Prof Ball led a tour of the campus to showcase some of our unique facilitates to the Thai delegation. One of the strategic ambitions of the Minister is to develop a space program in Thailand, as such, he was particularly impressed by our capabilities in the area of precision measurement, mirror polishing technology and cyber security infrastructure.

The Commissioner and his team were treated to a presentation by the Director of Student Services Matt Mills, Security Services Manager Martin Falsey and the University Police Officer PC Philip Hardy, on developing a safe and secure campus environment for students.
