New Neurodiversity Staff Group - Launching 25th July

The Neurodiversity Staff Group at the University of Huddersfield will be a peer support network for staff members who are, or think they may be neurodivergent (eg. Specific Learning Differences (Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia), AD(H)D and Autism Spectrum Conditions). The group aims to provide a safe space to connect, explore shared experiences, and discuss supportive strategies and approaches.

Our launch meeting will be held on Tuesday 25th July at 12pm via Microsoft Teams. If you are interested in joining the group, please fill out this Microsoft Form and the EDI team will be in touch.

An advocate for the group, Dr Simon Kelly (Senior Lecturer in Management, The Business School), shared his lived experience as a supportive message to others:

'Being neurodivergent often means trying to fit into a world and a workplace not always set up to recognise or accommodate your experiences and needs. This can often be a lonely experience for colleagues who are neurodivergent or those who have neurodivergent colleagues, friends, family members, or dependents. The creation of a Neurodiversity Staff Group is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of the many intersecting ways that neurodiversity might be experienced by colleagues and how we might work together to build a network of mutual support and create a more neurodivergent friendly workplace and university.'
