We are now inviting nominations for a new member of Senate and need a representative from the professional services staff of the University. Please note that the deadline for nominations is 12 noon on Friday, 27 January 2023.  Elections will then be called if necessary and concluded by Friday 24 February 2023

NOTICE TO MEMBERS OF THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES STAFF:  
Election of a member of the Professional Services Staff to serve on the Senate for a period of three years
1.    The Senate of the University includes in its membership two members of the Professional Services Staff who are elected by and from the Professional Services Staff of the University as a whole.  The term of office for each elected member of Senate shall be a once-only renewable period of 3 years.  

2.    The current elected members are:
Miss K White (2nd term of office expires 31 August 2023)
Mr K Singh (1st term of office expires 31 August 2023)
Nominations are sought for the single vacancy created by Mr Singh having left the University.  The term of office for the vacancy will run from the date of election until 31 August 2025.  

3.    I would like to invite nominations from candidates, which must be made in writing.  There is no prescribed form, but nominations must include the following: 
a)    the signatures of a proposer and a seconder (these may be electronic);
b)    a signed statement from the nominee indicating their willingness to stand.
If an election is required, each candidate will be required to supply, in addition, a short supporting statement (200 words) for distribution with the ballot papers.  This is to inform voters who are not personally familiar with a candidate.

4.    Nominations should be submitted by email to registry@hud.ac.uk by 12 noon on Friday, 27 January 2023 with the subject line SENATE NOMINATION - GENERAL.

5.    If an election is required, it will be conducted by electronic ballot.  Voting will commence on 06 February 2023, closing 12 noon on 24 February 2023.

6.    The electorate is defined as staff of the University who are not classed as teachers or researchers, who will be in post in January 2023 and who are holders of Administrative, Professional, Technical and Clerical (APT&C) contracts.
