The University has recently begun providing free Tai Chi and Kung Fu classes on campus for staff and students. These are being run by the University’s Confucius Institute as part of our programme of active wellbeing and lifestyle activities and can be booked via the KAL app.
Confucius Institutes are University partnerships established across the globe which offer Chinese language and cultural programmes and promote co-operation between China and other countries. The University of Huddersfield’s Confucius Institute is run in partnership with the East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST).
Since its inception, the Confucius Institute has been involved in a range of exciting events and activities within the University and wider community, including Spring Festival and Lantern Festival celebrations. It has also been running Chinese language classes for children in local schools, as well as for staff and students at the University.
The new martial arts classes are currently running every Monday and they are a fun way to keep fit, support your wellbeing and immerse yourself in Chinese culture.
