Firth Street/Queen Street Improvement Works

Following a  notification from Kirklees Council this week, please read carefully the information below in regards to the highway improvement works on Firth Street and Queens Street South that will impact vehicular access/egress to some of the University car parks between the hours of 1800-0500.

The works to be completed in the phases below is resurfacing works which will impact on vehicular access during the periods of the works. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

 

Phase 1 – 1st, 3rd and 4th November 2022

Firth Street – Between Kings Bridge Road and the 3M Building

This will impact access to Sparck Jones/ Hasselt Car Parks and the small 3 M car park

 

Phase 3 –15th, 16th and 17th  November 2022

Firth Street – Between 3M Building and Wakefield Road

This will impact access and egress to the Charles Sikes, Firth Steet and Sands Street Car Parks during the period of the works. As the works commence at 1800 on the evenings of the 15th, 16th and 17th  November 2022, it is essential that the car parks at Charles Sikes and Firth Street are vacated by 1730 s to avoid any delay in leaving the car parks. We will also be restricting 1730 we will restrict access to the car parks to reduce any impact on users

Alternative car parking after 1715 is available at the Print Works and Queen Street South car parks and disabled parking is available on campus.

Please accept our apologies for the late notice but we have only just received this notification from the local council on the impact it will have the building occupiers.
