Free Bike Registration Event

On Tuesday 15 March, Campus Safety Officer PC Philip Hardy organised a free bike registration event outside the Richard Steinitz Building.  Staff and students were encouraged to bring their bikes and register them on the BikeRegister database, which is used by every UK Police force to search for stolen and recovered bikes – so if your bike is stolen, you could be reunited with your bicycle.  PC Hardy and PCSO Taylor registered the bike details, then marked the bikes using one of the BikeRegister security marking kits, and finally added a label which warns thieves that the bike is registered.  This service usually costs £12.99, but was offered free for staff and students.

PC Hardy was delighted with the success of the event which proved to be a great way for him meet both students and staff and explain his role on campus.  Working full-time at the University, PC Hardy is there as a point of contact for anyone connected with the University.  He operates an open-door policy (his office is based across from the Library outside the Schwann Building lift) and his details are displayed permanently outside the office and can be found on at Safer Student Officer.
